PLATFORM / DEVOPS ENGINEER

I am exclusively partnered with a leading Business Transformation Consultancy who are passionate about supporting their clients with their transformation challenges and optimising how they work through the effective use of technology. The client's services include Programme Delivery, Business Change, Platform Engineering (inc. DevOps, DevSecOps & SRE), Agile Consultancy, Coaching & Training.

Amber Resourcing and myself are currently recruiting for multiple Platform Engineers (with DevOps, DevSecOps & SRE skills) to support an impressive luxury retail client who is growing rapidly. There is an opportunity to join an expanding team on a large digital transformation and re-platform programme to support their continued growth and business ambition. Technical direction has been established and support is now required to embed processes and execute the work to meet the demands of the business.

Your Role and Key Activities

  1. Platform Engineering consists of highly challenging, interesting and wide-ranging responsibilities.
  2. Working closely with multi-skilled feature teams to efficiently and securely develop, test, deploy, release, operate and observe software products.
  3. Design, build and operate automated CICD pipelines. (For both application delivery and IaC)
  4. Design, build and operate Platform services for containerized products.
  5. Write and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  6. Support and advise teams as they onboard products to shared platform services.
  7. Design, build, and operate shared Platform services for Deployment, Operation and Observability.
  8. Oversee, design and implement the security, backup, and service management strategies.
  9. Evaluate application performance, identify potential bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement them with client teams.
  10. Delivering and monitoring KPIs/SLAs for all services that the client creates.
  11. Promoting automation and adoption of Platform Engineering practices to improve quality and flow
  12. Getting involved and providing technical input into post-incident reviews and post-change reviews.
  13. Capacity and Financial Management.
  14. Writing documentation on security resources and processes
  15. Researching and integrating products into the pipeline in relation to Threat Intelligence, automation responses and incident response.

Required Experience:

  1. Previous DevOps / DevSecOps or Platform Engineering role with a proven and demonstrable track record, and at least 3 years experience
  2. Developing and deploying secure products using appropriate technology and patterns
  3. Working in agile environments using methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  4. Demonstrate a security-first ethos and understanding of compliance standards including NIST, CIS, AWS WAR, PCI.
  5. Demonstrate experience with secure development, coding, and engineering best practices.
  6. Excellent experience with AWS.
  7. Excellent experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure testing strategies
  8. Experience with systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, logging, & tracing.
  9. Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines end-to-end, from code commits to production.
  10. Experience with SaaS-based Git products and CICD Pipeline tooling.
  11. Working knowledge of high-volume Ecommerce environments.
  12. Experience deploying and observing applications in AWS.
  13. Solid experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux-based environments.
  14. Understand secure network technologies, and best practice network concepts in cloud and Hybrid environments.
  15. Strong scripting skills, including Shell, Python, Go, Helm, Ansible, etc.
  16. Experience in Security Engineering.
  17. Good experience in administering and performance tuning of application stacks, such as Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Next, NGINX and others.
  18. Excellent communication skills.
